I use AI. In fact, I use it almost every day. It helps me write faster, organise information, generate ideas and improve efficiency.
Like many business owners, I believe artificial intelligence is one of the most powerful business tools we have ever seen.
But there is something it will never replace.
Human connection.
As an executive coach in the UK, I am often asked whether AI will eventually replace coaching, mentoring and consulting.
My answer is simple.
No.
AI can provide information. It can provide suggestions. It can analyse patterns.
What it cannot do is sit across from a business owner and recognise the emotion behind the words.
It cannot see the hesitation before someone answers a difficult question. It cannot notice the exhaustion hidden behind a smile. It cannot feel the energy in a room.
As a leadership coach, some of the most important conversations I have are not about strategy at all.
They are about:
- Confidence.
- Fear.
- Grief.
- Burnout.
- Relationships.
- Identity.
The human experience is rarely logical.
People do not make decisions based purely on information. They make decisions based on emotion, experience, values and belief systems.
That is where human coaching remains irreplaceable.
The most powerful breakthroughs I have witnessed have come from:
- A single question.
- A moment of silence.
- A difficult truth spoken at exactly the right time.
These moments cannot be automated.
AI will absolutely transform businesses. The businesses that embrace it wisely will gain a competitive advantage.
As a business performance coach, I encourage leaders to use technology wherever it improves efficiency and removes unnecessary workload.
But efficiency and humanity are not the same thing.
The future is not AI versus humans.
The future is AI and humans working together.
Let technology handle information.
Let people handle transformation.
Because business transformation has never been purely about systems.
It has always been about people.
And no algorithm can replace genuine human understanding.
Not now.
And not anytime soon.
