Sarah's Story
Helping Sarah find her way back from burnout
When Sarah first came to us, she was exhausted. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, the kind of exhaustion that builds over time when you’ve been holding everything together for too long.
On paper, her businesses were incredibly successful. She had several busy retail locations in London and a strong online presence that was performing exceptionally well. From the outside, everything looked like it was working. But when we started talking, a very different reality emerged. Sarah was on the shop floor almost every day, constantly answering questions, solving problems, making decisions and supporting her team. Even with people around her, everything was still coming back to her. The responsibility hadn’t been shared, it had simply grown.
The online side of the business was running smoothly, but inside the physical stores, things felt chaotic and demanding. There was no real structure to lean on, no systems strong enough to hold the day-to-day without her being there. And because of that, she had no space to step back and lead. By the time we started working together, she had reached burnout.
Creating a Foundation
The first step wasn’t to fix the business. It was to create space for her. To slow things down just enough for her to breathe again and begin to regain perspective. Only once that foundation was in place did we start looking at the business itself, and even then, gradually. We broke things down, identified where the pressure was really coming from, and where she was holding responsibilities that could realistically sit elsewhere.
Intorducing Structure
From there, we introduced structure. Not in a way that overwhelmed the business, but in a way that supported it. Clearer processes, better-defined roles, and a shift away from everything depending on her presence. One of the most powerful moments was when Sarah began to see that her team were capable of more than she had allowed. With guidance and clarity, they stepped up, and the business began to feel more stable.
Learning to Lead
At the same time, much of the work focused on her, her mindset, her confidence, and her leadership. Learning to trust what was being built around her, and to lead rather than carry everything herself.
This was never about a quick fix. Real change rarely is. But over time, the pressure that once sat entirely on her shoulders began to ease, supported by a stronger structure and a more capable team.
Today, we still work together, not because things are broken, but because the business continues to evolve. And for Sarah, the biggest transformation hasn’t just been in the way her business operates, but in how she leads it, without it coming at the cost of her own wellbeing.
