Meet Lois Williamson, the owner of Si Belle Beauty in Essex. Lois has quickly built a renowned beauty brand, emphasizing natural beauty and confidence. Beyond running her two salons, she offers extensive beauty courses through her training academy.
Lois joined the Delforge Group in 2023 and has since experienced clarity in business operations. Our guidance focuses on streamlining finances, implementing effective budget strategies, and improving team management.
Lois is currently on a break to focus on her new arrival and has decided not to resume her role in the same capacity. In light of this, we're working closely with her manager to strengthen her leadership skills. Our objective is to support her in leading the team and propelling the business towards future success, among other duties.
In this Q&A, Lois shares her experiences, challenges, and advice for fellow entrepreneurs in the beauty industry. Read about her journey and learn what drives her success.
The best piece of business advice you've ever received that you'd share with another salon owner
If you can’t control it, don’t waste time worrying about it!
If you could go back and change anything or give your younger self some guidance for your business journey, what would it be?
Continue to take calculated risks and don’t stay in your comfort zone. I had many opportunities to stay put where I was, but I chose to make certain choices which have totally led me to the business I have now. If I hadn’t taken those risks or made those choices, my life would look very different and I wouldn’t be surrounded by the team I have in the salons I have now.
Your favourite thing about being a business owner?
As a business owner about to go on maternity leave, I’m so proud of the business I have created and the time freedom I have allowed myself to have my first baby whilst having two salons open in the background.
And what do you find most challenging - and how do you overcome it?
I am a total people pleaser; however, I am really learning to stand by my opinions and thoughts so the business can continue to grow in the direction I want it to. Self-doubt is a battle, but when you look back at how far you have come and what you have created, it gives you the strength and confidence that your decisions are right for your business and you are the only person who knows it best.
Someone or another brand or business in the industry who inspires you and why?
CG Beauty (Carley) & Glow Beauty Studio (Jenna), both based in Southampton, I met online through the salon industry. They both inspire me and support me with the business, like I hope I do for them too. They both have created incredible beauty salons whilst also having a young family, therefore, they really inspire me, especially with the new adventure I am about to take on.
What do you love about being a Delforge Member, and would you recommend us to other salon owners and why?
I joined the Delforge Group in December last year (2023), and my business has never been so clear. From streamlining my finances and working with a budget to working on my staff journey and management team, I have already learnt so much, and I’m so excited to see where the next year takes me with Delforge. The fact that I have support from people who understand and have likely experienced it themselves has enabled me to sound off ideas, deal with challenges, and feel at ease with every decision I make.
