Launching a New Business Element

Starting a new business venture or adding a new element to your current one is exciting and challenging. It requires a shift in mindset and a deep understanding of your strengths.

As business owners, I believe we’re all creative in one way or another. We’re constantly bombarded with a mountain of ideas in our minds—some good, some not so good. It’s all about sorting the wheat from the chaff, as my mum would say, and then running with it.

My new business, BlemishPro, was born from a feeling I had years ago—feeling left to my own devices after training in an advanced treatment. While the training itself was great, the aftercare wasn’t there. Sure, if I had a question, it might get answered a few days later, but it’s easy to walk away after training and suddenly forget everything or even panic. I created what I needed all those years ago, and I believe it’s something that’s truly missing in the industry.

That being said, I knew my skills alone weren’t enough to make this a reality. So, I sought out someone I believed was one of the best in the industry, with the same strong work ethic as mine. I pitched the idea to her, she thought it over, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I believe the key to success often lies in how well you leverage what you already have.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned over the years is the power of truly understanding your strengths. Whether you’re just starting out or expanding your business, it’s crucial to know what makes you stand out. What do you do well? What drives your passion? Recognising these strengths can serve as the foundation for everything else.

For me, it’s always been about the ability to connect with people—understanding their needs, listening to their concerns, and offering something that adds real value. When you can identify your unique strengths, you can use them to establish a strong presence in the market.

Once you’ve figured out what you do best, the next step is to get creative and find solutions that help generate extra revenue. This doesn’t always mean adding more products or services—it’s about exploring new ways to deliver value to your existing customers. Could you improve your current offerings? Can you collaborate with others for mutual benefit?

Even though BlemishPro was a new business, it was based on a subject I knew inside and out. I believe one of the biggest mistakes people make when starting or expanding their businesses is trying to reinvent the wheel. Often, the tools and resources you already have are more than enough to push your business forward. It’s about utilising what’s already in front of you and maximising its potential.

Remember, success isn’t about doing everything—it’s about doing what matters and doing it well.
